I was scrolling through my digital shopping cart in the checkout page of an online clothing store and it crossed my mind of how important it is for an online store to maximise its interaction and online services to its customers. While in a brick and mortar shops, customer satisfaction depends on how good is the customer service. In online stores, value is build, and requires a different strategy compared to physical stores.
An inspiration for this blog is Missguided’s social media marketing strategy. Missguided, as a fast fashion retailer, optimising its social media presence is crucial. Its engagement with the audience involves a mix of product promos, user generated content, lifestyle posts, meme-like content, which keeps the output fresh and followers engaged.

What is social media marketing?
Social media marketing is utilising social media platforms to connect with your audience to build your brand, increase sales, and drive website traffic. Factors to consider are publishing great content on your social media profiles, listening to and engaging your followers, analysing your results, and running social media advertisements.
Major tactics that I think Missguided is a genius to have done it, are the use of #babesofmissguided, its creative campaigns supporting all body shapes and encourage confidence, collaboration with you-tubers and other social media influencers, and definitely the fun contents posted that are relevant to the targeted customers with the support of the enjoyable and amusing edits for their videos and posts. #Notboring

Despite Missguided’s 4.7M followers on Instagram, they are still able to service individual customers, which I think is a really plus point.

I would say Missguided can improve and generate more trust with its customers by replying to at least the top 5 comments on their posts or like their comment, which other online retailers like princess polly and meshki did. I used to comment on their posts and got a like. Not only that it felt like my effort to comment was noticed and appreciated, but it also helps the business to create frequent brand awareness and improve brand recall.
What social media platforms do you guys use most ??? Comment down below 😁

I think it depends on the nature and target audiences of the business.

Yes something that businesses have to consider. Always. Especially, when they are looking to hyper target their audiences.

Really agree. I did see some examples of indie brands successfully caught people’s attention on social media and finally made it big. From marketers perspective it is really a cheap communication channel with huge possible opportunities.

good point. But i think there are other ways on engaging with customers. Other than purely based on the online platforms. Such as, creating events where influencers come and post it to social medias. I’m not sure of the word they use to describe that, but it’s a short campaign usually brands do.
